About 

Compass Centre’s School Education Program consists of inclusive, non-judgemental, curriculum and fact-based presentations on healthy sexuality. Depending on the grade-level, topics are covered might include: anatomy & physiology, puberty, masturbation, abstinence, safer sex, contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) information and prevention. We are an approved Edmonton Public School Board Vendor with presentations for:  

We offer inclusive, non-judgemental, curriculum and fact-based presentations on healthy sexuality for Grades 4-6. We are an approved Edmonton Public School Board vendor. Our presentations for elementary school classes take place in May and June and cover many topics.

  • Puberty Development
  • Menstruation
  • Changing Moods
  • The Human Reproductive System 
  • Human Development &
  • Respect for Peers During Puberty 

Outcomes We Cover: 

Grade 4: 

W-4.3 Describe physical and social changes that occur during puberty; e.g., menstruation, secondary sexual characteristics, changing identity and moods. 

Grade 5:

W-5.3 Identify the basic components of the human reproductive system, and describe the basic functions of the various components; e.g., fertilization, conception.

Grade 6: 

W-6.3 Identify and describe the stages and factors that can affect human development from conception through birth.

CALM 20

We offer inclusive, non-judgemental, curriculum and fact-based presentations on healthy sexuality for Career and Life Management (CALM) classes. Each presentation is between 70-90 minutes in length. We are an approved vendor for the Edmonton Public School Board.

  • Safer Sex (i.e. condoms, dental dams)

Guest Lectures for Post-Secondary Courses

Compass Centre for Sexual Wellness has been guest lecturing for undergraduate and graduate university level courses for many years.

Fees: 

$50.00 per presentation.

As a non-profit agency, Compass Centre relies on grants, fees and donations to support our work. In order to continue our sexual health education presentations, we rely on your support. However, if your school or organization is unable to pay, we are happy to offer our services at a lower (or no) cost. 

Professional Development: 

Compass Centre does not just offer presentations to your students! Consider a session with our educators to a professional development day at your school. We offer customized professional development workshops for teachers as well as other interested in professionals, such as social workers, nurses and health care professionals and youth care workers.
